Our Information & Referral team supports thousands of individuals and families each year — including people experiencing homelessness and low-income households navigating complex systems of care. The time, compassion, and dedication our volunteers bring allow us to sustain and strengthen services across Alameda County.
Quite simply, we could not do this work without you.
What to Expect
Our 211 call center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring residents can reach help whenever they need it. Volunteer opportunities are remote, allowing you to serve the community from wherever you are.
Volunteers receive training, ongoing support, and hands-on experience in:
- Community resource navigation
- Trauma-informed communication
- Systems coordination
- Crisis-sensitive response
This is meaningful, skill-building work that directly impacts lives in real time.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
We are currently seeking volunteers to assist with answering calls and connecting Alameda County residents to essential services.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Responding to calls from individuals and families seeking assistance
- Providing accurate referrals to local health and human service programs
- Offering compassionate listening and clear, supportive guidance
- Documenting interactions and resource connections
- Learning and utilizing our comprehensive database of community services
This role is ideal for:
