Taxi Reimbursement Program

Description

Offers a taxi reimbursement program of up to $80 every three months for Emeryville residents age 70 and over, and the ADA eligible disabled age 18 to 69. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend one Paratransit Program Workshop a year. Reimbursement is valid with any of the following taxi companies licensed in Alameda County: Yellow Cab of the East Bay Friendly Cab Company Metro Yellow Taxi Cab Veterans Cab CompanyLyft and Uber are now accepted. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a Federal Law that prohibits discrimination based on one's disability in regard to employment, public services, and transportation. The ADA guarantees people with disabilities equal access to public transportation. Public transportation providers cannot refuse service to those with disabilities.

Program information

Eligibility: Open to all Emeryville residents age 70 and over, and to residents age 18-69 who are ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) certified.-DA Requirements:-Must have a temporary or permanent disability-An application must be filled out describing their disability or condition that prevents them from using a fixed bus route-Application requires signature from healthcare provider.
Program Fee: Participant must pay full taxi fare to taxi driver and obtain a receipt for later reimbursement by the program.
Application Process: Seniors age 70 and over: Call to apply to obtain a reimbursement form. People with disabilities: Complete the Paratransit Program Application on the City of Emeryville website and schedule an appointment with Paratransit Office in Oakland to become ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) certified.ADA Application Process .
