ADA Paratransit Service
Description
Offers a public transit service from curb to curb for people who are unable to use regular buses or trains. The inability to use regular transit must be because of a disability or disabling health condition. Vans are equipped with a wheelchair lift. Service is limited to areas within ¾ mile of an operating bus route or BART station.The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a Federal Law that prohibits discrimination based on one's disability in regard to employment, public services, and transportation. The ADA guarantees people with disabilities equal access to public transportation. Public transportation providers cannot refuse service to those with disabilities.

Program information
- Eligibility
- Individual qualified under the transportation criteria of the Americans with Disabilities Act which states that they are unable to use public transit without assistance due to a disability.ADA Requirements:-Must have a temporary or permanent disability-An application must be filled out describing their disability or condition that prevents them from using a fixed bus route
- Program Fee
- Fares for one way trips within East Bay: 0-12 miles = $4; 12-20 miles = $6; 20 miles+ = $7 Call for fee information traveling outside the East Bay area.
- Application Process
- Call to schedule a pick up. No same day reservations are accepted. To become ADA certified, call, email, or visit the website http://accessalameda.org/applications/ to apply. An in-person interview required after submitting the application.
- Documents Required
- Healthcare provider signature or proof of health condition by a health care provider for the application
